Rescuers were called out in the early hours of Sunday to aid a man who had injured his leg on the southern fringe of the Brecon Beacons national park.

Western Beacons Mountain Search and Rescue Team was alerted about 3.25am to the incident near Upper Brynamman.

A team spokesperson said the man had a lower leg injury. “He was found to be in quite a difficult to reach location. He was unable to leave and required rescue and medical attention.

“The Western Beacons mountain rescue team doctor treated the casualty’s injuries, while a joint mountain rescue and South Wales Fire Service team built a technical rope system to raise the casualty a short distance so he could be safely extracted.

“The casualty was then transferred to an ambulance and taken to hospital for further medical attention.”
