Missing hillwalker Paul Murphy

Missing hillwalker Paul Murphy

Police are appealing for sightings of a man who is missing after setting out to go hillwalking.

Paul Murphy’s car was found at the Cairngorm ski centre near Aviemore.

Police Scotland said Mr Murphy’s disappearance is out of character and they are concerned for his welfare.

He left his Stenhousemuir home about 7am on Sunday and has not been seen since.

Sergeant Alyson Bolton of Forth Valley police said: “This is very out of character for Paul who has never gone missing before and his family want to make sure he is OK.

“We believe he may have travelled to the north-east area and urge anyone who may have seen Paul to contact us. Similarly, if Paul is reading this, let us know you are safe and well.”

He is described as 6ft (1.83m) tall, of a stocky build with short black hair and facial hair. He was wearing a dark coloured hillwalking jacket, trousers and boots and was carrying a hillwalking rucksack.

Mr Murphy was driving a beige Nissan X Trail, registration SM62 BUF, which was found at the Cairngorm ski centre.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 4053 of Sunday 17 November.
