Simon Roberts will join the AMG Group as sales director

Simon Roberts is joining the company that owns the Vango brand as its sales director.

Mr Roberts will take up his post with the AMG Group on 1 July.

The company, based in Port Glasgow, was founded in 1966 and produces a large range of tents, camping equipment and other outdoor, with products available in more than 30 countries.

AMG said its new director has previously worked for Danish company Oase Outdoors and outdoors brands Berghaus and Columbia.

He is an avid outdoors enthusiast, regularly walking, camping and sailing with his family.

AMG Group chief executive Stephen Newlands said: “We’re delighted to appoint Simon, who brings a wealth of experience in sales management from both the outdoor, and other sectors, to the AMG senior team.

“Already known to several of our team, we look forward to welcoming Simon into the business, and planning for the future. While Covid-19 has curtailed outdoor recreation for the past few months, we remain committed to driving our business forward, and this change provides further strength in our already progressive team.”

Mr Roberts said: “I’m excited to begin this new chapter in my career, joining AMG and their great brand portfolio.

“I have admired the Vango brand for many years as an owner of some of their kit and believe there is a tremendous opportunity to grow the business both in the UK and internationally.

“I look forward to meeting the rest of the team, and subsequently our retail partners in the near future.”
