Rescuers searching a mountain in northern Scotland have found a man’s body.

Members of Assynt Mountain Rescue Team made the discovery on Ben Loyal in Sutherland on Friday morning.

Police Scotland said, although the man has not yet been formally identified, the family of Stuart Campbell from Dornoch who had been reported missing has been made aware.

A Coastguard helicopter helped recover the man’s body from the mountain.

Family members reported the 33-year-old Dornoch man missing on 27 July.

His car was found on the following day at a car park used by walkers making the ascent of Ben Loyal.

Assynt Mountain Rescue Team, the RAF Mountain Rescue Service, Search and Rescue Dogs Association members and Coastguard helicopter crews joined Police Scotland officers in the search for Mr Campbell.
