Rescuers searching for a missing hillwalker in the southern Highlands discovered a man’s body.
The 33-year-old was found on Ben A’an in the Trossachs after he was reported overdue from a walk.
Killin and Lomond Mountain Rescue Teams searched Ben Venue and Ben A’an on Thursday when the walker failed to return from an outing. A Coastguard helicopter joined the search after his vehicle was found at a nearby car park.
The death was the second within a few days within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs national park. A missing walker’s body was found on Ben More earlier in the week.
A Killin MRT spokesperson said: “We were asked to search Ben A’an and assist our colleagues Lomond Mountain Rescue Team who were searching Ben Venue.
“Unfortunately, this did not have a positive outcome and our thoughts are with the walker’s family and friends at this sad time.
“We urge everyone heading to the hills to please stay within your local area, leave a route with family, have a map and compass and equipment if the worst should happen. Have a look at the weather and please be safe.
“During the week the team were called to reports of a walker who hadn’t returned from Ben More.
“The team searched in full winter conditions with snow and ice at the summit. The walker was traced; however, the outcome wasn’t a positive one. Team members were honoured to return him to his family. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.”
