Rescuers have thanked passers-by who looked after a man after he fell on a Lake District hill.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was alerted about 2.45pm on Friday after the incident on Cat Bells.

The man took a short tumbling fall on a rocky section of the path on Skelgill Bank near the summit of the fell, suffering cuts to his head.

A team spokesperson said: “The casualty was checked over by a team doctor and provided with some pain relief before being walked off under supervision to a waiting ambulance.

“He was then transferred to Carlisle hospital for further checks.

“Many thanks to the other walkers who looked after the man while waiting for the team to arrive.”

The incident involved nine Keswick MRT volunteers and lasted 1½ hours.
