Search teams have found a woman’s body on Ben Nevis.

Police Scotland said, although no formal identification has been made, the family of missing walker Sarah Buick has been informed.

The 24-year-old from Dundee was reported missing after posting a photograph of herself on the summit of the UK’s highest mountain early on Tuesday.

Police appealed for sightings of the experienced walker, who had walked to the mountain’s summit from Glen Nevis, they said.

Officers said there were no suspicious circumstances, and a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team posted on social media: “At this difficult time, all our thoughts go out to Sarah’s friends and family.”
