A student was stretchered from a Snowdonia mountain after injuring himself when he slipped.

The student was walking on Cadair Idris with a group from a local outdoor education centre when he slipped on the lower slopes of the Pony Path above Ty Nant on Tuesday.

He injured his ankle and was unable to bear weight on the leg.

Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team was alerted about 2.45pm.

A team spokesperson said: “In deteriorating weather, groups of team volunteers made their way to the casualty while colleagues from South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team were put on standby in case greater numbers were required for the evacuation.

“In the event, the numbers on-scene proved sufficient for the stretcher carry off the hill and SSSRT were stood-down.

“Everyone was safely off the hill by 6.15pm, and the casualty party made their own arrangements for seeking further assessment and hospital treatment.”
