Harvey Christian is believed to have climbed Ben Nevis

Police are appealing to walkers in the Highlands for sightings of a walker who has gone missing on Ben Nevis.

Police Scotland said they believe Harvey Christian ascended Britain’s highest mountain on Friday, but has not returned.

Officers said they are concerned for the welfare of the 42-year-old from Cambridgeshire.

“We suspect that he is in the area of Ben Nevis and would appeal to any hillwalkers who have visited since 27 January who may have information.”

Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, which has been helping colleagues from the Lochaber team, said conditions in the area on Sunday were ‘interesting’.

A team spokesperson said high winds driving heavy rain were making for very difficult conditions, with searching incredibly hard. Search and Rescue Dogs Association handlers and their animals had also been out on the hill.

The search is due to resume on Monday.

Police asked anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting incident 3318 of 28 January 2023.
