Rescue teams are searching for a walker who went missing in the Highlands overnight at the weekend.

Jonathan Groves separated from his walking companion on Ben Alder and has not been seen since. Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, colleagues from the RAF Kinloss MRT and Northern Constabulary are all searching for the 26-year-old, from Manchester.

The search is being conducted on Ben Alder and Beinn Bheòil, 1,148m (3,766ft) and 1,019m (3,343ft) respectively, overlooking Loch Ericht.

A spokesperson for Northern Constabulary said: “There is a possibility that Jonathan may have safely descended from Ben Alder and police are asking if any member of the public has seen a man matching this description to contact Aviemore Police Station on 01479 810222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”

Mr Groves is described as 6ft (1,83m) tall with light brown, shoulder-length hair and partial beard.
