A walker was airlifted to hospital after a fall on the Skye Cuillin today.

The 19-year-old, described by police as a foreign national, is in a serious condition in the Southern General Hospital, Glasgow, after sustaining a head injury in the incident in the Loch Coruisk area. He was transferred to Glasgow after initially being taken to Broadford Hospital on Skye.

A spokesperson for the Northern Constabulary said: “The man, who was walking with a friend, fell a short distance just before midday today. The alarm was raised by his companion at approx 11.55am.

“Skye Mountain Rescue Team was called out along with Stornoway Coastguard’s Rescue 100 helicopter.”

Police have not released any further details of the man.
