An RAF Sea King helicopter joined the search

A search for a walker lost in the Highlands was called off yesterday evening when the man turned up unharmed.

A Sea King helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth joined members of the Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team in the search for the walker, who became separated from his wife on a munro in the Glen Cannich area. Police were alerted at 3.30pm yesterday and a search launched.

He was walking on the 992m (3,254ft) Carn nan Gobhar when he got lost. Visibility in the area was said to be very poor.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said: β€œThe operation ended at 7.23 last night when the man managed to walk down into Strathfarrar. He was tired and wet, but not injured.”
