Rescuers were called into action to two separate incidents within half an hour yesterday.

Members of Coniston Mountain Rescue Team first went to aid a walker who had fallen while walking at Tarn Hows, near Coniston, at 5.20pm.

The woman suffered head injuries and was treated by team members at the scene before she was taken by ambulance to hospital.

The team responded 25 minutes later to reports of a woman who had injured her ankle while gill scrambling in Church Beck, below Coppermines Valley near the Old Man of Coniston.

She was helped from the scene and treated before being taken to hospital.
