A climber has died after falling on Ben Nevis’s north face.

Police were alerted at 5.18pm on Sunday when a climbing companion rang 999 to say the man had fallen in Tower Gully.

Members of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team went to the scene, and a Sea King helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth flew to the site.

A spokesperson for Northern Constabulary said: “The body of the male, who unfortunately suffered fatal injuries in the fall, was recovered.

“Details of the deceased will not be released until next of kin have been informed.”

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in Fort William.
