A walker was airlifted from one of Yorkshire’s Three Peaks after breaking his arm in a fall.

The 25-year-old slipped on frozen ground while descending Ingleborough this afternoon.

Members of the Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation went to the walker’s aid after the incident, which happened about 2.45pm between Little Ingleborough and Gaping Gill.

A spokesperson for the CRO, which carries out rescues both in the Yorkshire Dales caves and on its fells, said: “Following treatment by paramedics the casualty was assisted a short distance down to an air ambulance for evacuation to hospital.”
