Volunteers used their rescue boat to reach a walker who had fallen and injured her head.
The 79-year-old woman was walking on the lakeside path at Silver Point on the shores of Ullswater.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted by police at 1.55pm today, Saturday after the walker fell over a rock while travelling between Howtown and Glenridding.
A spokesperson for the rescuers said: “The team used its rescue boat to get to the scene where the Great North Air Ambulance was providing medical care. They then carried the woman to the helicopter and she was flown to Carlisle Infirmary.
“The casualty’s family were transported back to their car at Howtown.”
Fourteen members of the mountain rescue team took part in the operation.
