A walker was airlifted from a fell after suffering a suspected broken ankle in a slip.

The 49-year-old woman fell while coming down Dent, the 352m (1,155ft) fell just west of the Lake District national park.

Twenty-one members of the volunteer team went to the walker’s aid after being called out at about 4.35pm today, Sunday.

A Cockermouth MRT spokesperson said: “The team stretchered her to an air ambulance which was able to land 100m from the casualty site.”

Dent lies on the route of Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to Coat walk, between the village of Cleator and Nannycatch Gate at the head of Uldale.
