A walker was airlifted from a Lakeland fell after developing breathing difficulties.

The 56-year-old woman was coming down from Red Pike above Crummock Water today when she got into difficulties.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 4pm and 25 members of the volunteer team went to the walker’s aid at the site, near the bottom of Scale Force.

The woman, from Northamptonshire, was treated by team members and air ambulance paramedics before being airlifted from the scene to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for further treatment.
