A man’s body has been found in the Cairngorms.

Northern Constabulary said the remains were found yesterday, Thursday, about 3.30pm in the Braeriach area.

An RAF Sea King helicopter joined Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team in the operation to recover the man’s remains.

A police spokesperson said: “Enquiries are currently ongoing to establish the identity of the male. Further details will not be released until next of kin have been informed.”

The 1,296m (4,252ft) mountain is the third highest peak in Britain and lies 2km west of the Lairig Ghru, where 49-year-old walker Grant Cunliffe went missing in January this year.
