A walker was airlifted from Yorkshire’s second-highest peak after injuring herself.

The 48-year-old woman fell near Nick Pot on Ingleborough, suffering head injuries.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was alerted about 4.45pm today and went to the woman’s aid. An air ambulance also went to the scene and a paramedic treated her on the fellside before she was airlifted by the helicopter to Clapham, 5km (3 miles) away.

An ambulance then took her to hospital for further treatment.
