The team found the walker near Outerside

An exhausted walker was rescued from a Lakeland fell after calling for help.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was alerted about 6.30pm yesterday, Thursday, after the 51-year-old man reported he was unwell and close to collapse while coming down from the 637m (2,090ft) Causey Pike.

The team sent two vehicles and found the man on the Stonycroft track near Outerside.

A spokesperson said: “He was treated for exhaustion, and after some time for recuperation, was able to be walked by team members down to Force Crag mine.”

The walker was then driven down to the village of Braithwaite to waiting family members who took him to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for a check-up.

The rescue, which took a little less than 2½ hours, involved 23 team members and was the Keswick team’s 59th of the year.
