A teenager was rescued from a popular gill-scrambling route after injuring herself.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was alerted about 4pm yesterday, Wednesday, after the girl slipped while in Church Beck above Coniston village, injuring her ankle.

The girl was treated at the scene by team members then stretchered to one of its vehicles which took her to the rescuer’s base.

She was then transferred by ambulance for further treatment at Furness General Hospital, Barrow in Furness.
