The man was spotted at Sty Head

A man was walked to safety by a member of the public after he was found on a Lakeland fell.

The man from Kent, described as vulnerable, had been reported missing and two mountain rescue teams were called out after he was sighted at Sty Head between Wasdale and Borrowdale yesterday.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted at 4.30pm and enlisted the help of colleagues from the Keswick team, which made its way to Seathwaite from Borrowdale.

A spokesperson for the Wasdale team said: “As the team were just about to set off we had a report that a member of the public had found the male and was walking him to Seathwaite in Borrowdale.”

Seven members of the Keswick team were involved in the incident, joining 21 Wasdale MRT members who were called out.
