Two men have been found uninjured but cold after a night lost in the Cairngorms.

A major search was launched after police were informed the pair had got lost after a day’s climbing in the area.

Members of Cairngorm, Glenmore Lodge, Braemar, RAF Lossiemouth and RAF Leuchars Mountain Rescue Teams joined the search, along with members of the Search and Rescue Dogs Association.

A Sea King helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth also helped in the search for the men.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “The men were located on Ben MacDui at 10 o’clock this morning and have been taken to Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Base by RAF rescue helicopter 137.

“Apart from suffering the effects of the cold, the pair were uninjured.

“Police would like to thank everyone involved in the very extensive search to find the men.”
