Police have named the walker whose body was found in the Highlands at the weekend.

David Robert Beattie, 54, from the Aberdeen area, was reported missing in the Fannichs, south of Ullapool on Sunday.

Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team and an RAF Sea King helicopter joined the search in the area around Braemore and Mr Beattie’s body was found by rescuers.

Police said a post-mortem examination would be carried out on the walker and that no further details were available.
