A walker was rescued after suffering an injury while on a Lakeland walk.

The 69-year-old from Germany injured her ankle while walking along the shore of Crummock Water near Scale Beck on Sunday.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 4.50pm and 17 volunteer members took part in the operation.

She was treated at the scene then stretchered to Buttermere where an ambulance took her to West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven for further treatment.
