A pair of walkers was rescued after getting lost on a Lakeland fell.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out at7.45pm on Saturday to aid the walkers, its second rescue of the day.

The pair got lost in low cloud and stormy weather on Caudale Moor and called police for help.

Three Patterdale MRT members made their way on to the fell and found the couple cold, wet and hungry but otherwise in good spirits.

A team spokesperson said: “Once they had received adequate sustenance and given extra clothing they were walked off the fell.”

The rescue lasted three hours.
