A walker was rescued from a Lakeland fell after falling and injuring her head.

Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team was called out this afternoon to Loughrigg Fell, where the 61-year-old from Kendal had slipped near Rydal Cave.

The Pride of Cumbria helicopter from the Great North Air Ambulance also flew to the site at 2.50pm and an ambulance crew helped treat the woman, who was assessed by a paramedic from the air ambulance.

The walker was then taken from the site by the mountain rescue team’s Land Rover to an ambulance waiting on the road nearby. She was then taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary for further treatment.

The air ambulance had earlier been scrambled after a 91-year-old man collapsed while walking at Hardknott Pass.

The man, from Seascale, was assessed by paramedics from the helicopter. A GNAA spokesperson said: “Having made a good recovery, he was left with his family to continue their day out.”

A road ambulance went to the incident.
