A walker was led to safety after getting lost in mist on the Bowland Fells in Lancashire.

Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team was alerted yesterday afternoon after the walker became disoriented in the Fair Snape Fell area.

Kevin Camplin of the team said: “The walker, well equipped, got disorientated when the mist came down on to the fells.

“The team, after a hasty search, quickly found the gentleman and escorted him off the fells to safety.

“Afterwards, the gent was extremely thankful to the rescue team, explaining that he was totally disorientated and feared for the worst considering the extreme heat conditions and the terrain.”
