A man has died after falling at a Yorkshire Dales beauty spot.

The Cave Rescue Organisation was alerted by police yesterday about 9.05pm.

The rescue team said the man suffered a fatal fall in the Malham area.

A team spokesperson said: “The team carried the casualty a short distance to a CRO vehicle before a transfer to an ambulance in Malham village.

“In addition members undertook a search of the area for personal items.”

Earlier in the evening, the team went to the aid of two lost walkers who were attempting the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.

The men, aged 27 and 59, reported they were lost near the summit of Ingleborough.

The CRO’s initial search party found the pair near Swine Tail to the North-East of the summit plateau.

The team spokesperson said the men were walked down to one of its vehicles at Braithwaite Wife Hole, 1.5km (1 mile) away and driven off the fell.

They were both uninjured.
