A mountain rescue operation is underway in the Cairngorms after a climber fell more than 300ft.

Police said Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team and a Sea King search and rescue helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth are making their way to the injured man near Coire an Lochain on the Cairn Gorm range.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said the man, believed to be in his 30s, fell between 50 and 100m today.

The spokesperson said he has received serious injuries, but they are not thought to be life-threatening, adding there is no further information at present.
