Police searching for a missing paddler in the Brecon Beacons said a body has been found.

Dyfed-Powys Police said a body was found shortly before 11.20am in the River Usk.

A major search was undertaken by mountain rescue team members, Coastguard staff and crews from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service after the 34-year-old man went missing while kayaking with a group near Llangynidr.

A member of Brecon Mountain Rescue Team went up in the police helicopter to search the area from the air.

A police spokesperson said: “The family of the missing kayaker has been informed of the discovery and efforts will now get underway to formally identify the deceased.”
