The cyclist crashed on Long Lane near Clapham

A mountain biker was rescued after falling from his machine in the Yorkshire Dales and injuring himself.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out about 12.20pm yesterday, Saturday, when the 29-year-old injured his back and hip when he came off his bike on Long Lane, a track north of the village.

The rescue team said the man’s helmet was damaged in the incident.

He was treated at the scene and then stretchered a short distance to a team vehicle which took him to Clapham, where a waiting ambulance took him to hospital.
