The walker was near the summit of Loughrigg

A walker was airlifted from a Lake District fell after breaking her leg.

The woman was walking alone on Loughrigg when she suffered the injury.

Fellow walkers helped her and Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 12.25pm on Saturday.

An air ambulance also flew to the site near the summit of the fell, and she was treated at the scene by rescuers and crew, and given pain relief. Her leg was splinted before she was stretchered to the helicopter and flown to hospital for further treatment.
