The body of a walker who went missing on Arran has been found.

David Randle, 73, was reported missing when he failed to return from a walk on Cir Mhòr on Thursday after setting off from the Glen Rosa campsite.

Police Scotland said the body of a man was found in the area close to the mountain and has since been identified as that of Mr Randle.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death; however the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

“David’s family have asked that we pass on their thanks to everyone involved in the search.”
