Rescuers who spend a third day looking for a missing walker in the Highlands have appealed to outdoor enthusiasts to report any sightings of the man.

Tom Brown, 65, of Lanarkshire was see on Thursday 2 July in the Glen Nevis Youth Hostel, near Fort William.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team volunteers have searched the area around the Steall Falls for three consecutive days without success.

A team spokesperson said: “His rucksack may have been seen in the location it was found on the evening of the 3 July at a point about 1km east of Old Steall. If you were in the Glen Nevis area and saw Tom on the day could you contact Fort William police on 101?”

Mr Brown is described as 5ft 10ins (1.78m) tall, of stocky build, with grey-brown bushy hair and eyebrows.

The search was the second for a missing walker in the Steall area in a month. In June, a major search failed to find experienced hillwalker Eric Cyl after he was reported missing after heading for a trip in the same area.

More than 60 rescuers took part in the main operation to try to find Mr Cyl, who was believed to be in the Steall, Glen Nevis, Grey Corries, Aonach Beag or Mamores area.

Last month, police brought in a drone to try to locate 62-year-old Mr Cyl, but without success.
