A walker was rescued after she fell and injured her ankle in Grizedale Forest.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 2pm yesterday, Saturday, to the incident near Carron Crag, where the woman, in her 60s, had been walking.

A team spokesperson said: “The lady was treated for an ankle injury and stretchered to one of the team’s Land Rover ambulances.

“She was taken to Grizedale Visitor Centre and transferred to a land ambulance from North West Ambulance Service for the onward journey to hospital.”

The rescue involved 11 volunteer members of the Coniston team.
