A cyclist was airlifted from a Lake District forest after she injured herself in a crash.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 1.20pm today, Monday, when the rider came off her machine in Grizedale Forest.

A team spokesperson said: “The team assisted a paramedic from North West Ambulance Service and staff from the North West Air Ambulance in treating the lady for potential neck and spinal injuries.

“She was then stretchered to the North West Air Ambulance aircraft for the onward journey to Preston Royal Infirmary, Preston.”

The rescue involved 14 volunteer members of Coniston MRT.
