Dennis Kelsall, chairman of the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild, said: “The spirit of adventure is alive and well, and the quality of outdoor writing and photography in the UK and Europe remains as high as ever.

“It has been incredibly satisfying to be able to recognise the lifetime achievement of Hamish Brown MBE for his outstanding work over three decades, bringing to life through poetry and words some of the UK’s best loved landscapes.

“All the nominees have demonstrated outstanding skill and talent which has made the selection of winners incredibly hard; our warmest congratulations to all nominees and winners.”

The Derryck Draper Award for outstanding innovation in outdoor equipment design was awarded to Osprey for its Anti-Gravity back system.
