A walker was rescued after becoming unwell on a Lake District fell.

The 65-year-old woman from Essex was on a circular walk on Rannerdale Knotts on Sunday when the incident happened.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out and 19 of its volunteers took part in the operation to bring her off the fell, which overlooks Crummock Water.

A team spokesperson said: “The lady was treated at the scene by team members and carried by stretcher down to the waiting ambulance in Buttermere village.”
