Outdoor fans have been offered a sneak preview of a film following a top climber’s ascent of a remote big wall.

Coldhouse Collective’s Mirror Wall documents Leo Houlding’s scaling of the 1,200m (3,937ft) Greenland rock climb.

A new teaser trailer released by the team gives a flavour of the movie, which will premiere in September.

The producers said: “The film sets a new tone for climbing narratives, exploring the more cerebral and philosophical side of climbing in remote corners of the world, focusing on the characters and their motivations and thoughts on why they take these risks and what it means to be a part of that world.

“Leo Houlding is the expedition leader, and the film follows the four-man team on the first ascent of the 1,200m Mirror Wall.”

Scaling the vertical wall of the north-west face alongside the climbers, director Matt Pycroft was able to capture up-close the physical and emotional intensity of the task, as well as getting a day-by-day account of the climb.

He said: “The audience will be watching a team of young men on a journey together with a shared aim and objective.

“Mirror Wall takes a ‘new age’ documentary style, with an emphasis on the more cerebral and philosophical side of Leo and his team and their motivations and reservations surrounding the expeditions they go on, the lifestyles they’ve chosen and their home life.”

The premiere in September will be followed by a series of short films for expedition sponsor Berghaus, which focus on the practical side of life on a big wall expedition.
