The body of a man was found at the foot of a Yorkshire Dales crag.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out on Saturday night by North Yorkshire Police after the discovery at the base of Malham Cove.

The team carried the body of the 20-year-old man to one of its Land Rovers and he was then taken down the village.

A CRO spokesperson said: “A small-scale search at the top of the cove produced his possessions which were handed over to the police.”

The 80m (260ft) limestone crag is a popular climbing venue.
