Police have appealed for sightings of a man who may be walking in the Glen Affric area.

They said they want to establish the whereabouts of Cornelius Hendrick Van Der Wetering who was last seen in the Tomich area on Wednesday 28 December.

Mr Van Der Wetering, who comes from the Netherlands, previously stayed in a guest house in Inverness. Officers said they are concerned for his wellbeing.

It is understood the 53-year-old planned to walk from Tomich towards Kyle of Lochalsh, via Glen Affric.

He is described as tall and slim with short grey hair, wearing outdoor clothing and carrying a large rucksack.

Police Scotland said: “As part of ongoing enquiries to confirm Mr Van Der Wetering’s wellbeing, officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen a man of his description walking in the Tomich-Glen Affric or Lochalsh areas since 28 December to make contact via 101.

“Officers are also making contact with local guest house and hotel owners and bus and taxi companies and would appeal to anyone in the hospitality or transport industry who may have seen Mr Van Der Wetering to phone 101.”
