A group of young walkers tackling a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition came to the aid of a woman lost on the Lakeland fells.

The woman was reported missing overnight after heading out for a walk on Crinkle Crags and becoming separated from her companion.

Three rescue teams, Langdale Ambleside, Duddon and Furness and Wasdale, began a search for the missing walker.

A Langdale Ambleside MRT spokesperson said: “She was eventually located next day, having been accommodated near Esk Hause by a DofE group from King Edward VI School, Stratford-upon-Avon, having been safely accommodated in one of their tents overnight.”
