Police have released pictures of the two hillwalkers who have gone missing in the Highlands.

Alan Gibson and his brother Neil were reported missing after failing to return from a trip in the Achnashellach area of Strathcarron in Wester Ross.

Alan, 56, and Neil, 63, set off about 7.45am on Thursday. A search was instigated that evening, with the Torridon and Kintail Mountain Rescue Teams joined by the RAF Mountain Rescue Service, Search and Rescue Dogs Association members and a Coastguard helicopter.

The operation to find the pair continued on Friday.

The brothers are believed to be accompanied by a black pointer dog Archie.

Police Scotland said: “If anyone was out walking in the area of Achnashellach yesterday and recalls seeing two men with a dog we would ask that they call in with information quoting reference number 4089 of 8 February.”
