Police are appealing for help to identify the men in the CCTV image

Police are appealing for help after jackets worth £1,000 were stolen from an outdoors store.

North Yorkshire Police said two men entered the Go Outdoors shop on Fossbank in York about 1.20pm on Tuesday 27 February.

A spokesperson said: “They left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.”

Officers want to speak to two men in connection with the incident and released stills from CCTV footage. They are appealing to the public for help in identifying the pair.

Anyone who recognises the men or who has any information about the incident is asked to contact police by ringing101, pressing option 2 and asking to speak to PC Nikki Jackson. The public can also contact PC Jackson by email.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police ask the public to quote reference number 12180034443 when passing on any information.
