Lee Thompson has been reported missing

Police in the North York Moors have issued an urgent appeal to walkers for sightings of a missing man.

Lee Thompson, 48, of Middlesbrough was reported missing on Tuesday.

Officers said they are very concerned for his safety.

They appealed to anyone who has been walking on the Cleveland Way, and in particular the Lord Stones and Carlton Bank area for information on Mr Thompson. The locations also lie on the route of the Coast to Coast Walk.

Mr Thompson is described as white, 6ft (1.83m) tall, of stocky build with short brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing dark coloured trousers, black trainers and a grey top, He may have a black rucksack with him, police said.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “If you have been in the Cleveland Hills, or the Cleveland Way today, in particular near Lord Stones cafe or Carlton Bank area and believe you have seen Lee, please contact the police on 101.

“If you have an immediate sighting of Lee, please call 999.”
