Police have named the man who died after falling on Ben Nevis at the weekend.

Patrick Boothroyd suffered fatal injuries when he fell while climbing in Tower Gully on the mountain’s North Face on Sunday.

Rescuers were alerted about 2.25pm and Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team was called out.

A Coastguard helicopter flew the 21-year-old West Yorkshire climber to Belford Hospital in Fort William but he died of his injuries.

Another man climbing in the area suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to Belford Hospital.
