A walker was rescued from a Lake District fell after injuring his leg.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 12.30pm on Friday to the incident above Hayeswater.

The man suffered an upper leg injury when he slipped between The Knott and the reservoir, above Hartsop.

A team spokesperson said: “The man who was from the Eden Valley had been walking with a friend when he slipped while descending a steep, grassy slope.

“After being treated at the scene by team members he was stretchered off the fell and transported back to the team’s base in Patterdale.

“The gentleman was then transferred to an ambulance for his onward journey to Carlisle hospital.”

The three-hour rescue involved eight Patterdale MRT volunteers.
