A man who has repeatedly sparked searches across Britain has been reported missing again.
Police Scotland said Andrew Moorhouse has gone missing from his home in Lerwick, Shetland.
Officers said the 47-year-old, who went missing in the early hours of Thursday, is a keen walker and could be heading towards the North of the island.
A spokesperson said: “Andrew is described as white, around 5ft 9ins [1.79m], of stocky build with balding red hair and a beard. He is likely to be wearing outdoor clothing and may be carrying a rucksack.
“Anyone who has information or who may have spoken to him should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1032 of Thursday, 2 July, 2020.”
In October last year, Mr Moorhouse was reported missing in Lochaber after leaving his Sheffield home. A month earlier, he sparked a search in the Keswick area, and in June the same year was also reported missing in the Aviemore area.
- Update, Friday:
Police Scotland said Mr Moorhouse may be in the Weisdale area of Shetland Mainland.
A spokesperson said: “There was a possible sighting of Andrew around lunchtime on Thursday, 2 July near Whiteness. He was wearing a dark green walking jacket and carrying a black rucksack.”
They added he has an English accent.
- Further update, Friday:
Police Scotland said that Mr Moorhouse has been found safe and well.
A spokesperson said: “Police Scotland would like to thank the members of HM Coastguard and the public for their assistance.”

02 July 2020Here we go again
the police, mountain rescue and indeed everyone else has much more pressing things to think about at the moment without this repeat offender coming back out of the woodwork.
The person who answered the phone should have simply replied "go on, ask me if I'm bovvered"

02 July 2020I'd like to know who it is that keeps reporting him missing!
Julia Stent
03 July 2020Maybe he has mental health issues which need to be addressed?
John Bainbridge
03 July 2020I think Julia is right. This will happen until the underlying issues are addressed.
Sheepy
03 July 2020I thought he lived somewhere around Sheffield?
Emma
03 July 2020I met Andrew face to face in March, after we met online. We talk every day on the phone, I knew he was living in Shetland, but I have just seen reports about him missing, and now I can't get hold of him on the phone.
I'm really, really worried about him, and even more worried after doing some internet digging. I knew him with a different surname.
We were supposed to be setting up a life together in Shetland - I'm not even mad, I'm just really worried about him.

04 July 2020Emma and Andrew are probably one and the same. Instead of living on Shetland or in Sheffield they (he) seems to live on planet cuckoo.
"I know, if I pretend to be someone called Emma and come up with an elaborate story about us, all those thick people out there might start to believe I really am missing. hahahaha just think of all the disruption this might cause"

04 July 2020Emma if you are being serious read this,

04 July 2020Pathfinder, I can promise you that Andrew and I are definitely not one and the same... I'm just someone who got taken in by his lies... and after all the internet digging I did last night, I can see I'm not the first person he did it to, he spins a good yarn.
I'm pleased he has been found, I just hope that he now gets the help he so obviously needs, and stops wasting the time and resources of mountain rescue teams.
Lucky I didnt move to Shetland, otherwise god knows what might have happened.

04 July 2020Read about him last year. Andrew Moorhouse was supposedly a member of Harrogate Mountain Rescue Team (which doesn’t exist) and also a member of International Search & Rescue Team (which doesn’t exist). Frightening really. Also goes by several different surnames.
Emma
04 July 2020I am being serious, and I'm so thankful that I saw the article about him in the Shetland News. I spent an hour on the phone to the police yesterday.
People should know he was going by the surname Jones, I've found about 4 different surnames for him after looking through different threads on caving websites.
Steer clear of him girls! I almost moved 400 miles away to be with him, thank god I didnt.

05 July 2020So 'Emma', you met face to face in March? During lock down? Then you suddenly decide you might "move 400 miles away to set up a life together in Shetland" of all places with 'Andrew'.
Think we're onto him pathfinder! It would be interesting to see the email address used!

05 July 2020By the way Andrew, did you get the idea for "International search and rescue" from thunderbirds?
Emma
05 July 2020I understand Mr Moorhouse is moving to Orkney, a little village that suits him down to the ground called TWATT !
